My History
Peter Fowler
I started painting in 1995 to educate and pass on my Aboriginal heritage to my young son and newly-born twin daughters. My Aboriginal background has its roots with the desert people of the Charleville Cunnamulla district. I was born in Brisbane, separated from my natural family, then adopted and raised by a celtic-Anglo Saxon family. I have been aware of this adoption since early childhood, but was not aware of my Aboriginality until about 20 years ago. I paint in a unique contemporary Aboriginal style which has attracted wide community interest. I conduct workshops with school children and donate many art works to community organisations for fundraising. I have held successful solo exhibitions at the Boonah Regional Art Gallery, Art and Soul Art Gallery Boonah, The Newton Gallery, Ipswich and Noosaville . I have also exhibited in group exhibitions at Boonah, Redland Bay, Brisbane, Jimboomba and Gold Coast.
In 2005, I received a Highly Commended Award in the Oils & Acrylics Section of the Scenic Rim Art Prize and one of my paintings was acquired by Boonah Shire Council. In 2006 I received second prize in the oils and Acrylics section Scenic Rim Art Awards. In 2007 I was included in the book "Who's Who of Queensland " a remarkable achievement , in 2009 I again took out first prize in acrylics at the Scenic Rim Spar Arts Festival.
My works are held in private collections both in Australia and overseas.

Connection to country workshops are created and offered by an artist residing in the Scenic Rim area of South East Queensland
Art workshops are designed for schools as a educational and fun way for students to connect to culture and learn first hand about the creative process
Students will engage with the artist through storytelling, reflection on history, artifacts, music, painting and the language of symbols.
